We at The NEST, celebrated our Second Annual Sports meet on 10th of February. Sports Day might come once a year, but its lessons, its emotions, its spirit – they stay with us, guiding us in competitions and in life. It was a momentous occasion to witness our learners unite in a spirit of competition, celebrating both victories and defeats with zeal and good sportsmanship.

Pongal Celebration

The vibrant spirit of Pongal celebration echoed through The Nest School, as learners adorned themselves in traditional attire, embracing the rich culture. The rhythmic beats of drums set the stage for energetic dance performances, where learners showcased their enthusiasm and traditional moves. The folk dance forms of Tamil Nadu, Karakattam, and Theru Koothu, captivated everyone with the essence of the region's cultural heritage. The significance of the day was highlighted where the learners celebrated thanking the Sun God, Mother Nature and farm animals that help to contribute to a bountiful harvest. It was a day brimming with joy, unity, and the warmth of Pongal traditions.

How an IB school in...

Christmas Day at The NEST School was a festive celebration filled with joy and merriment. Learners showcased their talents as they danced and sang carols to a medley of enchanting Christmas songs. The atmosphere was lively and spirited, with the Learners and Facilitators coming together to share the warmth of the season. The highlight of the day was the delightful surprise visit from Santa Claus, spreading cheer and turning our Christmas celebration into a magical and memorable event for everyone involved.

Children’s Day

Diwali Celebrations

The king of all celebrations, Diwali, brought color to our campus as students dressed in traditional outfits and actively took part in activities like lantern making, diya painting, ladoo making, rangoli and poster competition. The message that our learners retained was to celebrate Diwali without causing harm to stray animals or birds. They realized that Diwali is, at its core, a celebration of all relationships.

CAIE : Learning expedition

Our learners of CAIE proudly presented their presentations to parents . They showcased their understanding of the subjects such as Global Perspectives , Science , Visual Art, Additional Language & PE through a classroom presentation, puppet shows , and engaging games. The learners demonstrated their knowledge and skills while confidently sharing their learning journey with their parents.

End of Theme 2....

Our PYP learners at The NEST school exemplified their understanding of the UOI Theme 'Where we are in place and time' by dressing up as innovators, archaeologists, and paleontologists and setting up the classrooms as art galleries and museums. They also advocated for the conservation of migratory animals and birds to our learning community, demonstrating the IB Learner profile attribute and the ATL's.

NAH session : Mental health

Academic performance is directly impacted by mental health, thus it's critical to foster behaviors that promote emotional stability. Neglecting mental health can have negative consequences for both the person and the community. This was underlined by Dr. Vidyaa, our guest speaker, who provided insightful remarks on mental health during our NAH session.

The early learners at The NEST celebrated the worldwide festival of Halloween with great enthusiasm and good humor. For the Halloween celebration, teachers donned eerie costumes to engage our young learners through role-play, music, and storytelling. Navaratri at The NEST school was a vibrant celebration of culture and sustainability. Our learners enthusiastically displayed a stunning Golu, with each figurine crafted from sustainable materials, emphasizing our commitment to the environment. They showcased creativity and eco-consciousness side by side. To make the celebration even more energetic, the students donned traditional attire and danced Dandiya, creating an atmosphere filled with joy and rhythm. NAH : World Habitat Day

This week's Nest Advocacy Hour featured Ms. Nina Subramani, a Sustainability Practitioner, Climate Activist, Producer at Riverbank Studios in New Delhi, Filmmaker, and Founder of Elephant Corridor. The discussion centered around the theme of rapid urbanization and its consequences for the environment and human poverty, in recognition of World Habitat Day. Ms. Nina Subramani highlighted how Chennai's once-rich landscapes have transformed into a bustling urban metropolis over time. During the session, Ms. Nina Subramani emphasized various small-scale sustainable practices that individuals can incorporate into their lives, ranging from minimizing food waste to reducing the consumption of new clothing. It was inspiring to note that Ms. Subramani practices what she preaches, using a bicycle for her everyday transportation, serving as a powerful source of motivation for the participants.

The Nest Community showed up to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with an emphasis on one of our core pillars: Helping learners discover their hidden talents. Our kindergartners led the way by building adorable Ganesha idols from clay. The festivities motivated others to express their artistic talents through painting, singing, and delivering appealing performances with dynamic rhythms.

Teachers' Day is a special day in our academic calendar where we gather together to express our heartfelt gratitude to our exceptional teacher, who play an essential role in the lives of the budding learners. The learners performed a beautiful dance and an emotive song to show their role models how grateful they are on this particular day. We had a fantastic schedule of activities, games, and surprises planned to make this celebration a beautiful one to remember for our #GenNEST Guardians.

Krishna Janmashtami

Krishna Janmashtami, was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at The Nest school. The children came dressed as Radha and Krishna, adding a vibrant touch to the festivity. The learners showcased their dancing and singing talents that depicted the playful antics of Lord Krishna. The highlight of the celebration was the "butter pot" breaking event. Children tried to reach and break the pot filled with flowers, just like Krishna did as a child. Laughter and cheers filled the air as they attempted to reach the pot. Overall, the Krishna Janmashtami celebration was a joyous and culturally enriching experience, bringing learners, teachers together in celebration of Lord Krishna's birth.

Onam Festivity@The Nest

The Onam celebration at The NEST was a vibrant display of cultural richness. Learners adorned themselves in traditional attires of Kerala. The Poo Kolam-floral designs were made with involvement and enthusiasm. The sight of our teachers dancing to the rhythmic beats of traditional Onam song added to the festivity. It was a heart-warming event celebrated to foster a sense of unity and togetherness.

We at The NEST celebrated the 77th Independence day of our Nation along with our high spirited learners. The learners showcased their unity and equality through a March parade and a lovely dance performance. Our learners also dressed up as great leaders and delivered speeches that reminded us of the bravery and sacrifices of our freedom fighters.

POCSO Workshop

The children are at the core of our policies, which are thoughtfully woven. The POCSO workshop was a yet another attempt to sensitize our facilitators about child abuse. The workshop gave a complete glimpse of the provisions of the act underscoring the significance of educators' contributions to children's safety and security.
